Mary Brandon, a Leeds University student, had to spend nine hours in the emergency room after getting punched in the face after she told a man to stop groping her at the Notting Hill Carnival.
Brandon was dancing with her friends on Monday afternoon when she felt someone grab her bottom. She told the man to stop, but he did it again.
Brandon pushed him away and the man then allegedly punched her in the face. He fled the scene while staff at Channel One sound system called for an ambulance.
Brandon spent the next nine hours in the emergency room for her injuries.
Police are still searching for the suspect. Channel One sound system said the man was “about 5’ 11”, heavy build, black and wearing a black hoodie and a black flat cap.”
Brandon said she was not discouraged by the incident and explained in a Facebook post that “I can honestly say I will always stand up to someone who thinks they can get away with this behaviour and I would take a punch again from this loser or any other loser who thinks it is ok to treat women like this.
